“Somewhere”, 2020-present, Ceramic

What does participatory clay look like beyond something that is held or poured? I have been exploring the ephemeral dissonance of place with sculptural objects that incorporate smartphone flashlights that reveal hidden temporal light paintings within. The pieces are geological while architectural - familiar while impenetrable. The scale draws you in, shrinks, then expands. Integrating new technologies enveloped by the handmade, “Somewhere” explores clays materiality. They are environments that are extracted while fabricated. Spaces that are personal while shared.
